DS puked on my beautiful rug <sob>

I've cleaned it twice with 'Vanish Hand Shampoo for Carpets' and it looks cleaner than it has ever for years, but it still smells of puke. It's the fringey-bit at the edge, I think.

It's a lovely, lovely rug. Was a 30th birthday pressie from my parents. I don't know what it's made from (not wool - dh is allergic) but it has a really short pile and feels smooth... thinking it might be at least partly silk. I'm assuming the fringe is cotton.

Anyone know what can I safely clean it with that will get rid of the smell?

-Oh, and ds is fine now btw!

glad your ds is feeling better.

I found that sprinkling baking soda onto my carpet (after its cleaned and dried) then hoovering it up after an hour or so gets rid of the smell.
or try Neutradol carpet smell remover.

A dessert bowl of water with a dessert spoon of bicarb of soda, dabbed on, will kill the smell immediately. Works wonders and you only need a weak solution. Or you can try the shake & vac approach with the dry bicarb powder if you are worried about water marks.

I'm off to buy the biggest tub on bicarb I can lay my hands on then!
Thank you. Smile

Puppy spray for the smell but spot test first in case it lifts the colour out.

'Puppy Spray' as in the stuff you squirt on your dog?

Really?

Like this stuff?

No, puppy spray as in the stuff you put on the carpet when your puppy hasn't quite become housetrained yet. Kills protein based smells such as pee, barf and milk.
