Hi,

I am a SAHM with a 2yo. Hoping to TTC soon. I read the other thread about procrastinating and that's me! I manage to get the day-to-day stuff done (i.e. feeding, dressing and playing with DS, stack and unstack dishwasher, washing machine and hang up clothes). It's the other stuff that is proving tricky.

As I had a good career before DS, where I was mega-oragnised, I thought that creating a routine would be the best plan for me. DS still naps some afternoons so I would get a lot done then that I can't do when he's about (i.e. ironing and washing floors) and I can hoover and stuff with him as he loves to help.

So, ladies, those with good routines, please could you enlighten me to your plan for the weekly chores?

I was hoping to do the main chores over the week, so that the weekends are free for us to spend as a family. I also thought if I was more organised then I could fit in 30 mins of exercise too. I know it's all down to planning. And I realise I will have to limit the internet surfing and MN'ing!

So besides the day-to-day stuff as mentioned above, I wanted to have a plan for the weekly chores.
Ok, so my plan was something like:

Mondays: Wash DHs shirts & hoovering; Clean bathroom (whilst DS sleeps)
Tuesdays: Put laundry away; Iron shirts (and other bits whilst DS sleeps)
Wednesdays: Dusting; Wash kitchen floor (while DS sleeps)
Thursday: Scrubbing kitchen e.g. inside of microwave cooker etc.
2 hours tidying i.e. bookshelves or boxes we haven't unpacked yet! (whilst DS sleeps)
Friday: Supermarket shop; change beds (while DS sleeps - not his at this time obviously!)

Hope I haven't missed something and you think I don't clean properly Blush

Thanks!

I started with FLYLADY as most people on here did. Google her, she starts with babysteps and it did work for me. That was 3 years ago.

I now have a routine that fits in around my commitments, eg laundry that doesn't require ironing (towels) is done on the days where I am volunteering etc. Both my children are now in school.

Although I moved a year ago we are just getting sorted (my Mum died at the same time so I was all over the place) but my last house ran like clockwork so I did have time to wipe over kitchen cabinet doors and clean out the bits from the cutlery drawer.

Having the right cleaning stuff helped me too, like a long handled feather duster does tops of wardrobes, skirting boards (no bending) and I could dust rooms in under 2 mins every day.

Hi,

Fizzy - thanks for the Flylady idea - It's great! I cleaned my sinked the day I saw your reply (only just got round to reply now, as I have been flying since!) - thank so much!

Aquos - thanks for your routine - it helps me a lot with trying to work out what I need to be getting done before we TTC baby no. 2!

thanks both.
