Following from several recent threads which mentioned the wisdom of limiting towels, bedding etc. I now ask you to share wisdom on clothes.
My own I can handle but the dh and ds have masses of t shirts jeans jumpers jammies etc.
Main problems are big age gap between my 2 dss and I frugally keep all cast offs that are in decent condition. This creates a storage problem. i know i will never be ruthless enough to dispose of everything - how would I set limits on what I keep?
DH has masses of bland interchangeable clothes and will never throw out anything in werable condition even when buying new. Thinking of "helping" him with this - but again where to set limits.
Basically a long winded way of asking you how many, t-shirts, underpants, pj s , jeans etc. are sufficient to have on the go at one time? Bear in mind youngest is very prone to getting his clothes disgustingly dirty at drop of a hat..

I can't really be of much help because I have the same problem - well not so much me as my DC's.

I have the same problems!

Couldn't answer this. Never seem to have enough on a regular basis and yet the pile of clean clothes looks horrendous. Pile of clothes to be worn for day looks horrendous too so can understand why it all goes so quick too. Shall add it to the list of "in 15-20 years time ...." We have a spare bed thank goodness which houses the pile.

My strategy was to consign every near-double to a bin bag stored away and see if I could live without it for 3 months. I was meant to keep a note of anything I missed and then re-evaluate. In reality, the binbag is still there and I haven't missed (or remembered to record missing) anything. It did help me realise how little I need though, so might be a worth a try on your dh.

I was always amazed too at how few clothes I needed on long stretches of travelling abroad. 7 pairs of knickers were fine with frequent handwashing - so why on earth aren't they when I am doing 3-5 laundry loads a week????

Perhaps that should read clutter control - not quite sure what cluuter is:)

The annoying thing I find is that no matter how many clothes each member of the family has I can never wash them fast enough as they just like wearing the few favourites!!

Second the strategy of having a bin bag for duplicates/things you wish the boys would get rid of.

If they notice it's missing and ask for it, you can always give it back. If not...
