'Excess detergent' on every wash

Even when I haven't put any in!
I have tried running a hottest wash with no detergent-it was still foamy.
I have tried cleaning the filter-nada but smelly water.
I have cleaned the detergent dispenser drawer.
I have used an HG Washing Machine Service dose. It went grey but machine still foamy.
I have used less detergent.
I have used more detergent.
I have tried using no fabric conditioner.
Only thing that works is doing an extra rinse, drain and spin at the end.
It has been fine for around a year.
What's it all about then eh?

what sort of detergent do you use?
is it leaving residue on the clothes or is there just extra foam?

Sorry no answers but I have this problem too - white marks left on clothes. Halving the amount of detergent seems to work sometimes, others not. Hubby cleaned all filters and inside and ran a 60 degree wash- still the same. I'm just running a 90 degree empty wash to see if this makes a difference. I'll watch this post with interest to see if anyone has an answer.

PS I use ecover nonbio and wash at 30 degrees.

I stopped using liquid and switched to powder instead - I also use bio. Liquids dont contain bleach which can lead to the drum getting slimy and leaving marks on the clothes especially if you wash at low temperatures. I also regularly do a hot (90 degree) wash with bio detergent (I think you can use white vinegar or soda crystals instead though) to keep it clean.

I use bio liquid and am not getting white marks on clothes. Usually run a 40 or 60 degree wash.
Might try some soda crystals and changing to powder.
Can you use soda crystals whilst washing clothes in the machine?

This happens almost everytime my mum washes my clothes (my washer breaks down a lot)

Do you jam your machine so full that nothing can move?

Dunoon · 11/05/2011 13:54

No.
I'm running another 95 degree empty wash and it's foaming away inside.
I think I will just do a few and see if I can't wash whatever is foaming away. Although hopefully very hot washes aren't necessary for the sake of the planet and my electricity bill.
