cot bed duvet

Can anyone recommend a fairly cheap, basic (synthetic) small cotbed/toddler duvet? DD, who was 3 this week, has eventually cast off her grobag, I think because coincided with chickenpox this week and she was too hot. ("You give it to ds, maybe, mummy?" Not how our burly ds 18m will like blue and pink Cath Kidston-esque florall.. sweet!) She has been fine with a fleecy blanket whilst it's warm but will need a duvet at some point.

Still in a cot too! She is very small for her age and seems to love it still. We will be getting an extendable toddler bed from Ikea when we have renovated her new bedroom, so prob single size duvet then. I guess I'm looking for cheap and cheerful cotbed duvets till then as we are in midst of toilet training and would like to be able to buy 2 or 3.

Thanks all

I'd head back to ikea - they do them!

We went for a single duvet as then you can turn it sideways on and tuck most of it under the mattress, thus stopping toddler from kicking it off during the night and waking because they are cold...

We bought a 120cm x 150cm duvet from eBay (and a duvet cover for it from there too). It's small enough to launder in our washing machine so wasn't worried about buying it secondhand. We tuck a bit under the end so it can't work right up the bed and there's still loads left for DD to sleep under. There's also enough width to tuck it in (down the side of the bars as DD is still in the cot set-up!)

I did what Numptymum did and tuck a single duvet sideways, then once in a single sized bed they had the same duvet and covers etc. without the hassle of buying everything bigger :)

my dd still uses the dunelm cot duvet and pillow she has had since she was 2 - like this and she has one cover from there (very good prices) and one i made from pink gingham on the top and her fave flanellette on the reverse Hmm
She is a 'warm' child so only needs a fleecy blanket in the winter, and the duvet on its own for the rest of the year. At that price there's no reason not to get one the right size imho. Other than that we use her old cot bedding up!!She's 5.5 now so I consider that very good use Grin

ok, thanks all - looks like dunelm and ikea for shopping next week. Although I'm pretty frugal I would like to get her a duvet that is the right size (and low tog rating too). Can pass it on to ds when he's outgrown the floral grobag Wink

pmsl
he'll have his eyes shut, so why not give him the floral grobag, ahh sisterly love Grin

Well, he's currently just about outgrowing a lovely cream grobag with hot pink stars courtesy of dd! He is as burly as they come with huge hands and (I swear) muscly arms already. Also very keen on the ladeez and batting his very long eyelashes at them; not unlike dh in his youth Grin

We've taken a great photo to embarrass his friends at 18th birthday party...

John Lewis do a toddler bed / cotbed size duvet which is very light weight, not expensive and washable.
We have one that has lasted a long time. You can also get a double set of covers + small pillow slips from JL
And a small, hypo-allergenic pillow.
