Google it. There are some very enlightening vids.

Also google how to fold ikea bags - it changes your life, honest!

purpleknittingmum · 18/04/2011 20:18

I sort of put my hands up the one set of corners on a short side, fold it in half lengthways and then just sort of keep folding loosely! I am not a majorly tidy person anyway don't mind it looking a bit messy!

BettyOoh · 18/04/2011 20:24

oooh cool googled it! you tuck all the corners into each other. quote 'one of the biggest challenges you'll face in your life is folding fitted sheets'. Grin

Ooo! I just folded ours up earlier! Will see if I can do this!! :o

purpleknittingmum · 18/04/2011 21:04

Well, I can do it but not exactly how she did it!

I can do the first corner of the other one, but kept messing up the next bits, so laid it out on the floor with the edge sort of folded over ready, and then took the bottom ones up to it. My arms were aching doing it standing up!

BettyOoh · 18/04/2011 21:49

i'm going to save the excitement of trying it until tomorrow. i'm a bit of a midget so will probably inlist the help of the floor/table too.
think i might google the fancy ways of folding towels and t-shirts next.

Oops, that was meant to say 'first corner over the other one...'

I am mightily impressesd with my little square of fitted sheet! My husband was like 'yeah, marvelous!' Confused

Will have to change how I fold it all up now though as I tend to fold them into a long rectangle!

vintageteacups · 18/04/2011 22:37

OMG - I've been wondering how to do this since I was a teen!
Off tomorrow to get all of my mangled fitted sheets out of the airing cupboard and practice.

Looks a bit tricky once you get to the 3rd and 4th corners though - she was a bit too nippy!

MollieO · 18/04/2011 22:38

That's how I've always folded my fitted sheets. It just seems logical. Clearly I've missed my YouTube moment!

purpleknittingmum · 18/04/2011 22:41

She is a bit quick but once you get the idea of what is going to happen it does make sense. Will have to see what my mum does!

vintageteacups · 18/04/2011 22:43

My mum is pretty great in all things domestic............except fitted sheets.
She says that there's no special way - you just have to do your best Grin

Am going to show her this vid tomorrow.

BettyOoh · 19/04/2011 10:02

yey did it! had to keep pausing her but i got there in the end and am most pleased with the result. am going to show my mother too.

Well done! I had to keep pausing it too! I will show my mum this on Sunday when she comes over, and I will refold all my bedding now!!

Will be interesting to see how they do towels..... I just fold them in half twice!

BettyOoh · 19/04/2011 16:29

i did the towels too! i refolded every towel in the house so that you can't see the edges. (i think it's time i went back to work!)
you put them on a table, fold the two long sides into the middle, then fold each end, then fold in half.

OP posts:
purpleknittingmum · 19/04/2011 16:30

Righto! Bit busy just now but will do them all before I am back to work!! :o

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 19/04/2011 16:32

Wow, you ladies have too much time on your hands. I just throw my fitted sheets into the cupboard.

BecauseImWoeufIt · 19/04/2011 16:36

Never mind sheets - stuff them in the airing cupboard -

BettyOoh · 19/04/2011 17:00

yep definitely too much time on hands... coming to end of maternity leave. my house is generally a sty though, and people aren't too shy to say so!

and i am afraid to say i have done that with a t-shirt. but we have no drawer space, everything gets hung up, so my skills go unused.

Thanks for the IKEA bag link. I watched the video and my life has now changed.

purpleknittingmum · 19/04/2011 20:10

Hmm not sure if I am liking this now, instead of making my pile of duvet sets a rectangle that I can pile them all up in one go in my cupboard under my bed, this is just making them squarer and bigger and I can't put them all in one pile!

mousymouse · 19/04/2011 20:12

I just scrunch them up and put squeeze them into the drawer with the covers.
live is too short and all that.

vintageteacups · 20/04/2011 12:29

Well - me and my mum just tried to do it as the lady showed in the vid (my mum didn't see video so just tried to 'help' me) and it didn't work at all. Can't figure out where I'm goign wrong???

Do you hold the wrinkled, elastic corners first or the longer, straight sides in front of you?
