Help me with nursery curtains, please

Thought i'd got the curtains for little one's nursery sorted, until I get a phone call from John Lewis earlier today, advising that there is a fault in the fabric, its the second batch they have ordered and can't get anything different until their supplies stocks are used up. It has a blue dot in it apparently but this isn't clear from the photo they have emailed. Curtains were ordered 4 weeks ago so was expected them to arrive anytime. Can't buy ready made curtains as the window is an odd size, 3m wide and 1.75 height.

Does anyone have any ideas, DD arrives in 5 weeks. Nursery will be decorated in Winnie the Pooh theme, cream wallpaper with characters at the bottom, a border and then sky blue paper with clouds at the top. Had chosen Liberty Flutter by Flower fabric as could not find a nice Winnie one. Don't really feel like traipsing round shops again at 35 weeks pregnant, when i had already found it difficult to find suitable fabric.

What would you do? Can get a refund but really need to get curtains sorted asap. Thanks

Ikea is very good for long curtains.

Also it's worth bearing in mind that you may not use the nursery for anything other than storage for months Grin

So, maybe there's time to wait for the john lewis?

pick plain curtains, because then if you change decor you don't have to change curtains too, so you can order a nice decent quality pair with blackout lining

Buy curtains which are shorter and then buy a plain, contrasting material and simply hem it onto the bottom.

We move forces married quarters every couple of years and if I choose to hang my own curtains, I often sew a piece onto the bottom of each curtain to make them longer. Looks really cool and works espeically well in kids bedrooms even with patterned curtains.

I've used these people for ds curtain fabric. They have a good selection, fast delivery, prices same as John Lewis and offer a made to measure service if you don't fancy it. HTH :)

You could try here They do a selection of childrens curtains and may supply fabric for you to make your own. Their waiting time is usually around 2-3 weeks, i ordered some and got mine in 2 weeks :)

You might consider buying some travel blackout curtains - I think Jojo maman bebe do good ones. They will be very useful for all sorts of trips - holidays, to stay with family etc. Then you'd have something to use now, and can think about proper curtains at your leisure.
