Bloody hair dye on towel!!!!

garnier nutrisse is bloody drippy. Wasn't like that last time I coloured with it. I managed to clear mess from bathroom and rinsed hair as normal. Had shower, rinsed till water clear etc.
Wrapped hair in towel and when I came to dry it there are pale browny red splodges on it! WTF!!!!

How do I get them out?
It's a cream towel from primark so not £££ but still annoyed!

I bought black towels from Primark for this very reason. Is it light cream or a dark cream? I have had sucess in bleaching accidently dyed towels, but they were almost white with a motif on them. Just dab the area with bleach. I couldn't see a difference in between the bleached and unbleached bits.

HTH

Doubt if you'll get that out.

I have a special towel for dyeing my hair. It's old and knackered with splodges of brown dye on it. I have to hide it from DH or he takes it to the gym. He loves that towel for some reason!

Well even if I wanted to fix it the washer is dead and new one not coming till tues pm.

So I guess that's now my hair dye towel.

My LO managed a close encounter wearing a white shirt at my hair dressers and she said to spray hair spray on it then wash and that works
I'm yet to try it as I dont have any in the house

soppypreggyloon · 29/04/2011 20:06

Well it goes to show how rubbish the dye was- it washed out at 40 degrees with non bio! No stain spray, no nothing! Shame the same has happened with my greys too!

Try 'Casting - creme gloss' next time, it takes ages to wash out (even the grey bits) Smile

gilmoregirl · 29/04/2011 20:42

I have ruined many a top with hair dye - wish I could remember which brands actually dye and use them as my greys are taking over!

sorry to thread hijack:
Jellykat - which shades and how long do you leave it in? I use castings creme gloss and it does not seem to cover my greys well and I left it on for 40 mins. I used "chocolate" which is surprisingly orange so won't use that again (unless that was just as I left it on so long)

Jellykat · 29/04/2011 21:04

I use Plum... Its basically very dark pink, but thats how i like it, i leave it on for 25 minutes after applying, but i have long hair so it does take ages to get it on.
I always do the roots first, then work down to the more porous ends.

Do you normally use any mousses or products that coat your hair? because they say don't wash it first, could they be acting as a barrier? IYSWIM

gilmoregirl · 29/04/2011 21:11

Thanks Jellykat do you use two packets? I did last
time as I have very thick shoulder length hair and seems better. Only did it on Monday and have washed hair only once since and can see greys when I look closely. Maybe I need to go hardcore and permanent!

Jellykat · 29/04/2011 21:56

2 packets not needed on mine, as my hair's long but layered and fine..

Oh also, it would seem the hotter the water when you wash your hair, the more dye comes out.. rather like when you wash some cotton fabrics.

Jellykat · 29/04/2011 22:01

Another 'Oh also' is...

Use a gentle shampoo, and try Elvive colour protect conditioner .. Grin

Bumperlicioso · 29/04/2011 22:23

Doesn't everyone have a sacrificial towel and t shirt for hair dying? Grin

virginiasmonalogue · 29/04/2011 22:26

spray it with hairspray as soon as you can. Should come out in the wash
