bolognese stains on pvc tablecloth...help!

Our pvc table cloth has been stained by baby food...and there are redish marks on it now that no amount of scrubbing, bleach etc will shift. I remember an article in the Guardian some years back that recommended a product from Lakeland for this...but can't find the article on-line now. Their website has something called 'wine away' - could this be it?

Anyone know how to shift food stains from this kind of tablecloth? Everything else seems to wipe off easily! Thanks.

Sorry, never had any luck myself removing those sort of stains from plastic tablecloths - now I just have bare wood Grin.

i just put mine on a 30degree wash seems to have done the trick.

BlooCowWonders · 07/04/2011 12:40

I've learned to live with it...
No amount of bleach helped unfortunately.
But am now wondering if putting out in the sunshine would help A's it does with stained clothes?

Sorry,' as'

I found nail varnish remover helped with curry stains on my pvc tablecloth so might be worth a try.

Try a little Milton neat on a cotton bud- don't leave it too long before wiping/ rinsing it off, tho, as it's strong stuff. Prob best to try it somewhere inconspicuous, too- it was fine on my PVC tablecloth but just in case...

I don't know about a PVC tablecloth, but sunlight gets rid of these stains from white shirts, like magic. Might be worth a try, as we're supposed to get anotuher lovely day tomorrow!

Natural stains like these will disappear when left in the sun.Even if its not nice enough to leave things on the line you can still use your sunniest windowsill.

Fold the item so that the stain is uppermost and just leave until the stain is gone. Doesn't take long at all -and no noxious chemicals.

A tiny spray of WD40 apparently - I don't have first hand experience of this but they do recommend it in John Lewis!

K999 · 12/04/2011 22:11

I find hairspray gets rid if most things! Grin

I agree with hanging it on the line. When dd was small her bibs used to get stained with orange/red food, the sun would bleach it out. It was like magic!

savoycabbage · 13/04/2011 10:02

Definitely the sun. I tried everything starting with lemon juice, passing through vanish mixed with washing up liquid, which gets red wine out of our carpet with no problems. Nail varnish remover, flash with bleach, jif, hairspray. And finally proper domestos. Then I admitted defeat and chucked it on the roof of the wendy-house and three days later it was perfect.

I did weep with joy.

Savoycabbage, that made me laugh! So, sunshine it is then.

just like to say (7 years later) l just tried the sunlight trick and it worked ! had just bought myself a fancy John Lewis table cloth, the poshest thing in my kitchen, and of course a day later it was covered in bolognase stains. stuck it on the washing line and it's all better,!!! it's a (non)Christmas miracle! thank you for bothering to share this secret !

SavoyCabbage · 06/06/2018 16:30

I know! You haven't had it outside since 2011 have you???

SluttyButty · 06/06/2018 16:46

😱 sticking it out in the sunshine works?
How did I not know this. You wait it will be raining for the rest of the week now just so I can't try it.

RoseMartha · 10/06/2018 21:51

Stuck it on the washing line. Fresh air gets tomato based stains out
