what shall i use to clean my buggy?

dc2 is arriving soon and so on one of my child free days with ds in nursery next week i'm going to clean the buggy. most of the fabric won't come off without serious faff so i'm not taking it off and putting it in the washer as i'm not sure i'll get it back on.

should i use an upholstery cleaner or something else?

its a brio go if that helps.

TIA :)

I would use a liquid bio washing powder (but obviously it's a liquid). This will dissolve in the water so you won't get the powdery residue that might be left by a powder. I would then give the fabrics a good scrub in situ, and then wipe with a wet cloth to ttry and remove as much of the washing liquid as possible.

I'd try and do this on a hot morning so that the buggy can be left to dry in the garden for the rest of the day.

I attacked ours with bio liquid, scrubbing brush and lovely warm water - outside on a sunny day - fabulous results Grin

Scrub it (brush, nail brush) with soap/detergeant of your choice and then jet spray it. I kid you not. I watched this at a dealer garage, someone doing someone a favour. You could achieve the same result with a garden hose/jet/spray.

well i finally got round to it yesterday. it looks great!
dh got home and said that it looked like a new buggy! Grin

i used a 'colours' biological powder and a scrubbing brush and for the really stubborn bits just normal liquid hand soap. i soaked it with the hose and hand washed anything removable.

its still drying so hopefully the blue sky we woke up with will stay all day!

thanks for the tips ladies!

fantastic!! Hope you use a cosytoes next time get many more years out of it yet Wink

Another weirdy tip for you : I once decided to have a brainwave and sprayed my newly-washed buggy with that waterproofing spray you use for clothing and tents, it came up a flippin treat and never got soaked again. I am also convinced it kept it clean for longer. I did it a good few times after that on the various buggies and tandems but I am a rather strange camper person I must admit

We used the foot muff in winter but ds has always been a hot boy so had to take it off soon as spring started or if we were indoors as he cooked!
Might have a look at other brands next time I'm shopping.

The spray sound good but I've only got a little bottle for shoes- might need a few of them! :)
