Having a huge clearout: What to do with all those baby/christening cards/early years Stuff?

We are moving overseas in a few months and I am knee deep in a huge clearout of paperwork and household Stuff. Each child seems to have boxes of old cards and letters from their birth/christening plus we have our wedding cards (3 years ago) and masses of stuff from their pre-school/early years at school: pictures, exercise books etc (children are still only 5 and 7, so it isn't that old). Don't have time to lovingly compile albums comprising a selection of the best, but can't quite bring myself to chuck it all. On the other hand, putting it in store for several years, or transporting it half way across the world seems a bit daft. What do others do with this stuff, or am I being a ridiculous hoarder of things which the children will never actually take an interest in?

I would put it in big plastic boxes and keep it stored. I bet one day when you are retired you will get around to doing the photo album/scrap book thing. I would be a shame to not be able to look back at these things. Although I would not keep it all. All the photos yes but drawings etc just keep a few, wouldn't bother with the exercise books (maybe one for each child at most). The cards from birth and wedding day i would keep (if you really want a chuck out do keep the ones from close friends and family).

Thanks Nikki - sensible advice: I am just shocked by how much there is. Luckily DH has already departed overseas, as he is a bigger hoarder (and more sentimental) than I am! The coast is clear for me to do a semi-cull.

Maybe you can discard some and keep the rest. I've moved overseas many, many times and I find the less I haul back and forth, the easier our life.

Do you have someone (a grandma, godmother?) who would take some of the stuff and compile albums for your children? I'm asking because I have several relatives who volunteered to do that and it was so helpful.
