Has anyone got artificial grass in their garden?

We are seriously contemplating replacing our lawn with an artificial one-ie astro turf.
Has anyone have one of these and can you give me any feedback?
Is it as easy to maintain as advertised , and do you like it?

I will be watching this too.

I live in a clay area so drainage is a nightmare. Have a dog and a ds with severe ASD who needs to be able to get outside. I have checked out a few sites but dont know anyone with the product.

my mum has it, she loves it, she got sowgreen, really realistic, she brishes the leaves off it! and once a week she hoses it to get dog wee from it, never had any problems and never has to mow it!! i also know someone who tried to do it cheaply and it looks awful like astroturf just flat shiny green, mums is 2 tone green and looks really realistic!

memphis-that sounds great. I think I may get a few companies in to have a look. Would you by any chance know the company your mum used?

AFAIK it's really expensive for the realistic stuff. I would love it but have a big garden and been told would be c. £4000+

I watched '4 in a bed' on channel 4 this weekend - one of the b&b's had artificial grass (looked abit like green sprigs you get in butcher shop display cabinets Hmm ) but it has a whacking great weed growing through it?! I thought that was one of the benefits of artificial grass but maybe not now Hmm

My childminder has one - worth it's weight in gold. Always looks good and even after rain, it's dried in a jiffy and the little ones are back out there racing around. Easy to clean. I'd have the stuff if it wasn't for my lawnmower-mad husband Confused
