and my house is a shit tip!

Well, thats a bit of an exageration (sp)... but my kitchen floor hasn't seen a mop in over a week and the utility room is rank from muddy feet running in and out. I'm trying to de clutter but just moving it from room to room.... Help??

What do I need to do for them? I've never had one done before, so no idea what they are going to be doing, apart from the obvious...does everywhere need to be completely tidy and de cluttered?

I have never had it done before but I can imagine myself running around chucking all clutter into cardboard boxes and shoving it into the loft. Don't do ANY cleaning as that is what they are coming to do.

me neither, i'm 28wk pg and getting married in 2 weeks so havent the energy to get the house sparkling for the guests...

I have been threatening for weeks to get it done, hoping it would put a rocket up DF's arse, but he's double bluffed me and got the cleaners in! Who am I to argue??

No need to clean anything.

Get some big boxes/Ikea bags and clear as many surfaces as you can - they will find it hard to clean around clutter.

Do you know if they bring their own equipment and solutions, or will you need to leave out yours?

ooh, let me know how it goes as I've often wanted to do the same but felt rather threatened by the idea that someoene else is coming in to tackle my filth.

It sounds good to me. At the end of the day you are paying them so they do what you ask them to do. The less clutter the more they will clean but if clutter is your problem then maybe that is what you need them to help you tackle. Or, as I said, chuck it all in boxes, house gets cleaned and you can replace/file/ recycle etc the clutter at your leisure after everything else has settled down.

haha...Crystal, I'm passed feeling threatened, but not sure I will be able to look them in the eye lol..

They are bringing their own stuff...

I'm just about done in, a couple more piles to do then a quick panic in the am whilst trying to do the morning rig-ma-role... I've got a huge pile of washing that is shameful, am seriously thinking of hiding that in the loft!!

Do you mind me asking what they are charging? I used to do spring cleans for a large cleaning company and we charged £250.oo for a three bedroom house with ensuite, cloakroom and family bathroom etc., For that price EVERYTHING was cleaned!!!

Envy

Can you send them round here once they've done your place?

IhateSunday · 31/03/2011 23:47

I'm not sure, but I know they charge £11p/h per cleaner, and there is 2 of them coming. I have 2 receptions/kitchen/utility/bedroom 1, all quite large, and then downstairs bog, family bath, 2 smaller bedrooms upstairs. I can't even open the door in bedroom 4, so they are leaving that.

I'm expecting a hefty bill, but also expecting my motivation/ nesting instinct to magically appear once I can smell domestos and polish :)... either that or move out till my wedding 2 weeks on Monday....
