Getting onion smell out of wooden chopping board

Would love some advice on how to get the smell of onions out of a wooden chopping board please - it's a 2nd hand one given to us by a friend - lovely, but stinky! I can't soak it properly in the sink as it's too big.
Thankyou!

wipe it with white vinegar and leave to dry. you may have to do this a couple fo times but it should work.

don't soak it, wooden chopping boards shouldn't be soaked as the wood will swell and warp.

This won't answer your immediate problem, but have several smaller boards which CAN be washed. We have about five, and keep them rotating.

Got rid of the giant statement-y/ break your wrists-type ones.

Thanks ladies, I did wonder about the wood/soaking issue. I'll try the vinegar next. Echt - you are right - think I might keep this one on the top for show & continue using my trusty plastic ikea ones for actual chopping!

Just keep one board for onions/garlic/chilli. Everything else will be fine on it.

Salt works iirc
