Unless the washing line irons your clothes and makes you a cup of tea that is extotionate amount of money for a washing line.

Go to Argos or B&Q

MillsAndDoom · 24/03/2011 20:51

Our cheapy one is about ten years old. Yes it wobbles around in the ground and squeaks a bit but does the job

ChupaChups · 25/03/2011 09:39

Brabantia definitely.

Shop around online. I got a big one last summer for about £80 from Sainsburys online (with free delivery). It's great!!!

TaffetaCat · 25/03/2011 09:47

I've got this Brabantia one drilled into the wall so I can't see the washing from the house. It carries a full load of washing no probs.

It was worth every single penny. I am not the sort of person to get excited about a clothes drier, but I blardy love it.

alegre · 25/03/2011 09:51

Wow. I wouldn't pay that price, not even at 25% off.
I've used cheap and I've used a more expensive version (bought in clearance sale, think it was around £70/80 full price).

The expensive one is lighter, sturdier, bigger and seems easier to set up. I am pleased with it but it did just cost us around £30 in the sale. My clothes dry just the same as on a cheaper version though.

I'd look around more and see what there is. Maybe you can get a similar version much more cheaply.

Depends on how much you put on at once. if you only ever have one load on per day then the cheap one will do.

I used to end up with 3 or 4 loads on the same line, and I went through 2 cheap ones before I got the brabantia.

mychildrenarebarmy · 25/03/2011 16:55

Go by how much space they have. I had a more expensive one that I could fit 3 loads on in the summer and 2 loads in the colder weather and still have enough air flow to dry the clothes. When that died I bought a smaller, cheaper one. I can get 2 loads on it at best on the driest of days and wish I'd spent a bit extra. (Not as much as the one you linked to though).

brimfull · 28/03/2011 14:40

god yes the one I linked to is ridiculous price

think I will get abrabantia one

thanks for replies

Um... how do you get 25% off please?

Lilymaid · 28/03/2011 15:54

Not sure I'd bother with a model with foot pedal. I've used a similar Brabantia since 1984 - all that I've had to replace has been the line. I don't know how many cheap rotary lines I would have had to purchase over that period.

chickchickchicken · 28/03/2011 16:02

ive got the brabantia lift o matic one and its fantastic. i especially like how easy it is to raise and lower. i would never buy another brand now. i bought mine on ebay

brimfull · 28/03/2011 16:27

ChateauRouge · 28/03/2011 16:43

Ah blast... don't think JL take 5yos! Grin

How could you let her resign? Wink

Lilymaid · 28/03/2011 16:52

DS worked in JL in 6th form and first part of gap year. It was tragic when he left and I lost the 25% JL and 15% Waitrose discount. Travelling on a gap year, pah!

brimfull · 28/03/2011 17:19
