Range cookers - are they worth it?

Probably going to have a new kitchen fitted in the next couple of months and I am seriously considering getting a range cooker. I currently have an eye level double oven. Also what brand is a good brand to look at? The showroom I looked in yesterday had Stove cookers.

Love my Rangemaster Kitchener.Mum has a small Stoves range and the customer service she recieved was really good, she is very impressed with the cooker too.

Delft Blue here although would go with mandarin or prussian or yellow...........just didn't want dark green! It is the focal point on my kitchen a bought because we had saved forever for a "real" range cooker, I didn't want an Aga as I wasn't sure how to work it (am a bit of a control freak!) an my MIL is not the best sales person for it (in 10 yrs have never had anything that wasn't burnt!). I wanted a good resale value if possible and they often do deals/ have ex displays for a smaller amount. In that respect very similar to an aga.

(Oh and would have been happy with aubergine too.........)

baffled - I am Envy of your vezelay..........big time.......makes my macon look like a mini oven!

Foggy I think it was the colours I liked best!!!! See I know how to pick an oven and the Macon is lovely to be truthful ours is probably to big but its my large baby and it can't diet so I have to love it for it's size haha .we looked at an aga to cook and heat but have too many radiators plus no idea how they work look nice though!!!!! Husband bought home an antique rayburn once it stayed in the garden for ages!!!made a change from a pond :) At one point the range was the only thing the dogs didn't eat in the kitchen as they love pitch pine so oven looks good but antique units all a bit chewed! The cat loves the cupboard bit to sleep in toastie

Lacanche owners - sorry to revive this read but am highly confused. Love the Lacanche, but please tell me if the 55l ovens are big enough? they look too small, pushing me towards a Falcon, but would love to push the boat out for a Lacanche.

Sandyford good because it heats up quickly and can do water and CH. Bad because hobs cool down very quickly whilst cooking and oven door fittings are poor and come loose. Both of these faults are very irritating. Would not buy another.
