A dull washing line question!

We are having our washing line fitted to the wall rather than a rotary in the middle of the garden.

If you had the choice would you have your washing line out with your undercover area (we have a large pergola) or under the pergola?

Can't make up my mind!

I don't understand the question. I do understand what a pergola is. Do you mean next to the pergola or within it?

BodyOfChristLegsOfTinaTurner · 21/03/2011 23:46

My head hurts.

gregssausageroll · 22/03/2011 07:20

Sorry. Basically washing line under a the pergola so covered or outside.

Can you have two? Under would be good on days where you were going out but slight chance of rain and outside for the other times.
If I only had the chance of one then I would go for outside being I suspect you live in the UK so direct sunshine isn't too strong and won't fade your washing.

decisions decisions.

stealthsquiggle · 22/03/2011 07:30

Outside. Otherwise the birds will poo all over the washing (IME)

Slightlyreluctantexpat · 22/03/2011 07:54

Are you in Scotland, OP? (It's the "out with" that makes me ask).

I'd have it under the pergola.

mistressploppy · 22/03/2011 13:11

Yay for 'outwith'! Only a word in Scotland, in England it's ILLEGAL. Grin

I'd go outside to get the sun.

gregssausageroll · 22/03/2011 18:34

Yes, I am in Scotland! Didn't realise outwith is a Sottish expression!

2 could be a good idea!

At the risk of sounding like an advert, we bought a rotary line cover www.ecowashinglines.co.uk/rotary-washing-line-cover. It works quite well in that you don't have to rush out with every shower, but the clothes won't dry if it's freezing. The rain does drip through the arm-gap bits but it does mean I'm not tumble drying every load when it's raining. I'd recommend it if you don't need things immediately ( I tend to tumble dry the baby stuff because I DO need that immediately!).
