Selling 2nd hand furniture

We have an 8 piece bedroom range, that DH paid I think £4k for. Thinking of selling, but can anyone recommend a good way, which won't get us a silly price?

Am an ebayer, but looks like Willis & Gambier has a habit of not selling on there. Any other recs? Thanks

Bump for the weekday-ers. Would a local auctioneer be any good?? Anybody tried this?

I guess it depends what you call a silly price.

I can't see any 8 piece bedroom set fetching anything like its new price - how much is he willing to let it go for?

I would assume a well chosen auction would be your only best bet.

You could try a local paper or trade-it type small-ads paper. Or see if you could find a local dealer.

But I have to agree with Chippingin - you're very unlikely to get back anywhere near what you paid for it. Not many people will want or have room for such a large set of furniture, and until it becomes 'antique' or 'vintage' it is just second-hand, which means people don't see why they should pay more than, say, Ikea prices for it.

Ditto what the other ladies have said.

I think local paper would be your best bet. Ebayers are always looking for a real bargain and unless you're selling something that has a real brand demand or is vintage etc, things can go for heart-breaking amounts!

Good luck.
