What's it for? Halfords battery top up is suitable for irons etc (and according to their reviews, a medical linear accelerator Grin)

KingofHighVis · 17/03/2011 21:14

Halford or similar car spares shop. Also known as de-ionised water.

FourFortyFour · 17/03/2011 21:20

Do you have a condenser tumble drier? That water is distilled. Ask a friend

FourFortyFour · 18/03/2011 08:20

No.

Gottakeepchanging · 18/03/2011 08:21

You must know someone with one?

FourFortyFour · 18/03/2011 13:41

No, why would I? Confused. Anyway it has been said it isn't suitable.

Ealingkate · 18/03/2011 13:42

Robert Dyas?

52Girls · 18/03/2011 13:44

The water collected from a tumble drier is distilled, if you have one!

52Girls · 18/03/2011 13:58

Oops, x post - sorry.

FourFortyFour · 18/03/2011 13:59

I emailed Lakeland and they said I can use de-ionised water and DH got some of that earlier so I am covered now.

John Lewis - in the laundry section

SparkyToo · 20/03/2011 21:30

As Gottakeepchanging says - water from the condenser drying machine is distilled. My mum uses this water in her iron. I just use tap water - but then my iron keeps breaking. Should I be using distilled water?

Gottakeepchanging · 20/03/2011 23:21

Depends where you live,if it is hard water then yes using distilled makes ironed last longer.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 20/03/2011 23:23

Do you have a dehumidifier or condensing tumble-dryer (or know anybody that does)

It's the same thing.

Kewcumber · 20/03/2011 23:47

Is de=ionised water distilled water? I use battery top up water for my CPAP machine but £4 every months is annoying me is de-ionised water chepaer and I wonder if I can use it in a cpap mahcine

Kewcumber · 20/03/2011 23:48

Just realised its late and that stream of mulling (rather than milling) is probably double dutch to most of you. but if anyoneknows do comment Grin

GrimmaTheNome · 21/03/2011 21:32

Kew: Technically deionized water isn't distilled water - because the former is produced using ion exchange resins and the latter by distillation (ie vapourising and condensing the pure vapour leaving the crap behind). But these are essentially two different means to the same end - purified water with low ion concentration.

So for household purposes, deionized can be used in place of distilled, which is probably what you really wanted to know Smile

Kewcumber · 21/03/2011 22:41

and is one generally cheaper than the otehr (cheapskate emoticon) I get through a lot with my cpap machine.
