That's it really.

It's humming.

Something like 1001 carpet cleaner (and a lot of scrubbing) can help - make sure you soak it all up afterwards. Put a light coloured towel on it and walk/jump over it, then fold it so a clean bit is over the stain and repeat until the towel comes away clean.

You could also try bicarbonate of soda and hoover it up.

Bicarb!

Seona1973 · 14/03/2011 20:16

neutradol powder sprinkled on and left for a while before hoovering up (I would clean it with a disinfectant solution and let it dry first though)

MissGreatBritain · 14/03/2011 20:38

I think that washing powder is supposed to be quite good, as it has stuff that breaks down enzymes that cause the smell. worth a try anyway!

Mollymax · 14/03/2011 20:48

Zoflora works well

whatshouldicallmyself · 14/03/2011 21:18

second bicarb!

EveryonesJealousOfGingers · 14/03/2011 22:01

DD puked broccoli soup all over our hall carpet, and DH "cleared it up" whilst I de-puked DD and myself. As a result hall carpet still vile the next morning.

I made a solution of bio washing powder and warm water, and scrubbed the carpet with that using a dishcloth. I had bicarb at the ready to chuck on it when dried but in fact i let it dry overnight and it was perfect in the morning. Result!

ronshar · 14/03/2011 22:03

Soda water is good stuff.
Or Bicarb.

TheSleepFairy · 14/03/2011 22:04

I second zoflora, it's a disinfectent & has a really strong floral smell.

OrangeBernard · 14/03/2011 22:06

We used to use shaving foam at university. Worked well

MikeHock · 14/03/2011 22:12

Thank you for all the replies!

I have already done: 1001, vax and carpet steamer, so it's just the
smell really. I'll get hold of some of that zoflora tomorrow
and think I've got bicarb in the cupboard.

I will update once I've had a go at it!

at pets at home (i know its probably not pet related) they do a bottle or spray deodouriser, its a disinfectant without the usual smell and it takes the odour from urine, poo, sick and so that pets down go to it, it works great on sick!

MikeHock · 17/03/2011 12:31

Ooh thanks memphis, might look into that as been unable to get Zoflora - Asda and Waitrose both out - must be a bug going around!! Grin

bicarb. and lots of it.

Seona1973 · 17/03/2011 12:57

if you have a place that hires out the Rug Doctor machines then they sell Rug Doctor sprays with enzymes that help deal with smells from urine, vomit, etc

MikeHock · 17/03/2011 17:37

Sorry to be a complete numpty but what do you do with the bicarb - do you use it dry, or wet?

If dry, do you hoover it up?

If wet, I am imagining it turning into a paste?

(Laughing now as I am remembering Ross in Friends when he got stuck in the leather trousers Grin "the talc and lotion have mixed together and formed a paste!" Grin

Zoflora - dilute it first!

paddypoopants · 17/03/2011 17:58

Sprinkle the bicarb on- I usually put lots on. Leave it for a while- maybe overnight and then hoover it up. It's a great smell absorber. The rug doctor spray is fantastic but make sure you put loads on and I have tried lots of things over the years (due to a cat prone to barfing). I think I got it in B and Q.

MikeHock · 17/03/2011 18:26

Thanks all, I'll put something on it tonight - probably bicarb as DS will be asleep so don't want him overwhelmed with the whiff of Zoflora in his room!
