Do you have a whirlpool bath?

If so, how do you clean the jets?
Mine are full of scum (bleargh)

While we're at it, does anyone actually use their whirlpool? I enjoyed the novelty when we moved in for, ooh, maybe a fortnight...

We had one when we moved in, I could not wait to get rid. I hated the thing, it took yonks to fill and you had to step down into the floor to get in ours. Seriously undignified and frankly awful and far to big to lie down without sinking under.

Dreadful.

I didn't like it, in case that wasn't clear.

Sorry, cannot advise on the jets problem, just to say that chucking it out gave me deep joy!

Yep we've got one (in when we moved in also) and I hate the bloody thing too. Our is so noisy when its on its far from relaxing.

I called the manufacturer when we moved in (previous owners kindly left the manual)and the said to use Milton Fluid. Fill the bath, add the Milton (probably need quite a lot depending on how much water your bath holds), and run the jets for 15 mins to let the milton circulate.

I'd open the windows as well as I nearly passed out with Milton fumes! That tends to get rid of mouldy scum (yuk!) but won't touch limescale.

Its just gross switching the jets on whilst in the bath only to be joined by lots of gushes of mould & mildew. We don't use it any more..

We have an airbath rather than a whirlpool one. The manufacturers gave us cleaning agents to use on it. I have to say we have not yet had any mould or mildew problems with it. You could try phoning the manufacturers or asking in a shop where they fit them.

Kim and Aggie said dishwasher tablet in a half full bath and and turn it on - you should have SEEN the dirt that came out - bleerk!

Thanks for the tips - I've just run out of special whirlpool cleaning fluid at £16 a bottle! I'll be delighted if dishwasher tablets or Milton fluid do the job just as well.

Ooh, thanks for replies. So I'm not the ony one who thinks they're a pita. Dishwasher tablets and Milton it is then. Great!

And Shock at £16 whirlpool cleaning fluid!

Run the bath full of cold water, dissolve 2 dishwasher tablets in a bucket of boiling water, add to the bath and turn the jets on for 10 mins. I think she also scrubbed inside the jet holes with a cotton bud dipped in bleached water.
