I am useless when it comes to interior design and I could really do with some opinions Smile

We've recently had a new kitchen put in and I need some curtains for my patio doors. The walls are sage green and we have white units with a charcoal worktop. I really wanted to go with curtains to soften the look of the room a little (plus I don't like slatted blinds.)

So what colour curtains should I be looking for? I really need to buy ready made to keep costs down and I just can't find anything!

TIA.

You could go with a deep green, or alternatively, beige or dark cream if you want a bit of warmth. Best to stick with either neutrals or the existing colour but darker/lighter.

Some kind of green check would look quite kitcheny. Or spots? If you don't need actual curtains, you could just buy enough material to make panels.

I'd go for muslin - cheap and soft. Or voiles.

Can you tell us the paint brand so we can get an idea of the sage colour?

I love curtain shopping so would be happy to browse for you!!

RachelHRD · 05/03/2011 18:54

These always catch my eye when I see them in John Lewis and you can get crockery in the same design!

What colour is your floor? I'd probably use the curtain to get a bit of interest / pattern in, maybe something with a light/white/cream background and a pattern in green and maybe a bit of black (or grey - picking up the worktops).

The pattern you choose would depend on your house look, though stripes / check could also work.

It sounds like you've gone for a fairly plain look but you could add interest with prints or something on the walls and stick with plain light / white curtains.

Love that Sanderson print! It's a touch ubiquitous (but that's probably cos I've read too many interiors mags & John Lewis have lots of products in it much like that Orla Keily print iykwim?.

It's not exactly cheap tho', but is definitely striking.

rachel I do like those John Lewis ones too. I'm not usually a bold print kind of person, but I really like them.

love those sanderson ones.

what about a print with a deep red in?

Flisspaps · 05/03/2011 19:21

Olive green and charcoal voiles.

ZenNudist · 05/03/2011 19:22

John Lewis also do sage with white dots - could look cute, might be either a bad colour match or a bit same-same.

ZenNudist · 05/03/2011 19:39

or this?

:) No, I'm not MNing nekkid, it's just my latest random silly name.

RachelHRD · 05/03/2011 19:49

That's a lovely colour sage and I think those Sanderson curtains would work well with it.

Will look for some alternatives.

RachelHRD · 05/03/2011 20:14

These are nice too. They also do the fabric in a roman blind if you need one for a kitchen window.

These look nice and are on sale!

controlpantsandgladrags · 05/03/2011 20:40

Thanks so much for taking the time to shop on my behalf Smile

I think my favourites so far are the Sanderson ones. I do have a window as well so will probably just put a natural coloured roller blind on it.
