Carpet cleaners, recommendations please!

Good Morning,
We're getting our bedroom walls skimmed, and then re-decorating, so would like to be able to deep clean the carpet while all the furniture is out of the way (it would be lovely to have a new carpet but the budget won't stretch that far!). I've heard of the Rug Doctor, but is it any good? Does anyone have any recommendations for it, or something else? We're looking to rent it, rather than buy.

There's one for sale in Dunelm Mill at the moment that's only a little bit more than hiring for a weekend, an upright Vax one. It's about £70 I think.

rug doctor good. i have 3 boys and a dog so used to get very dirty carpets before changed to wood. make sure you do the whole carpet - ie don't miss strips or you will get stripes where you have left the dirt. probably used it about 5 or 6 times over the years.

Bumping as I'm interested too.

Was verving towards a bissel but heard bad things.

ive had my bissel big green machine and it does the job. I no longer buy expensive carpet cleaner after someone told me to use liquid washing detergent. Surf seems to work the best. My friend has a vax which is probably easier to push as its like a hoover but doesnt seem to get the carpets as clean. I got mine done by proffessional carpet cleaner which was by far the best. £60 for living room and stairs Smile
