Permanent marker on upvc window frame.

Ds1 has drawn in permanent marker on our bedroom windows and frames. I have no idea how to get it out. Have tried normal multipurpose cleaner and something a bit abrasive but not working. Dont want to use nail varnish remover as I think it might cause damage. Does anyone know what will work?

Get a dry-wipe marker, go over the permanent marker and then wipe it off.

Oh, and ground DS1 for the next ten years. Permanent markers are known as the "Pens of Doom" in our house.

I had perm marker on my pc screen, baby wipes took it off, honest!

staryeyed · 28/02/2011 18:09

baby wipes havent worked. I will have to buy a dry wipe marker to see.

try furniture polish. spray it on thick and leave for 10 mins and then rub hard.

Support the dry marker (whiteboard pen) tip - I use it all the time when some numpty colleague has used permanent marker on a whiteboard

After a completely random thread about teenage boys, I picked up a tip that Lynx is good for getting off permanent marker - I had cause to try it today when someone wrote in permanent marker on our whiteboard and it worked!

Snorbs · 28/02/2011 18:24

Maybe, but then you've got the problem of your room smelling of Lynx and, quite frankly, I'd prefer the permanent marker Grin

Grr I was going to post Snorbs' tip, but she got there first. Do this, it works.

Seona1973 · 28/02/2011 20:19

do Kim and Aggie not use milk or something to get pen marks off?

staryeyed · 28/02/2011 20:31

I thought milk was for crayons. oh well will give it all a go (not lynx- dont have any) and report back.

magic erasers remove anything!

SoupDragon · 28/02/2011 21:35

IIRC, hairspray removes it.

bobmcfish · 02/07/2014 16:33

Thank you for the tips! I went off to get some deodorant then thought to myself, what is in deodorant and hairspray which makes this work? Alcohol is the answer - so I got my rubbing alcohol and the permanent marker came straight back off with only a light wipe
