my lovely neighbour bought ds1 a coat in the charity shop. it is entirely navy apart from a semi circle of pink fleece on the inside at the collar. i know if he sees the pink he will know it is a girls' coat and wont wear it for fear of being teased. so i want to dye the pink part navy to match the rest of the coat. is this possible?

Yes - Dylon cold dyes - you need a bucket. You can get them online. Or at craft shops. You also need salt, a LOT of salt. Alternatives include using an indelible marker to colour it in.

do i need to immerse the whole coat in the dye? i am worried about messing up the colour of the coat as it is that shiny puffa jacket style coat.

It will not take on that part of the fabric in any case, it has to be polycotton and I think puffas are polyurothane (sp) shells anyway.

Or use an indelible pen.

Or sew a dark ribbon over that bit.
