... how much dust do you find builds up underneath big furniture?

I ask because I have just spent 4 1/2 days doing a huge clean up of my entire house. My DS has asthma and an allergy to dust mite. So having pack the children off the Granny's for the week I have been able do a big clean (think Aggie and Kim style dumping of clutter and getting into all the nooks and crannies) without having to stop to wipe bottoms, feed children or worry about the dust flying around being a problem. Now I am thinking if I can do the damp dust, hoover and mop every couple of days how often will I need to do a more thorough clean? It is my intention Hmm to go from being very lazy with cleaning to keeping on top of it. Plus I'm hoping that it means next time the children go to Granny's I can relax with a good book and some chocolate do something less intense.

Ooo.. go you!

4 1/2 days!!! your place must look amazing :)

is it a serious allergy? in which case i would deep clean his bedroom once a week and the other rooms he uses every 2 weeks. if not too serious then all once a month in addition to a quick go over every couple of days.

It is lovely. There are some other little jobs that I wanted to get done while they were away but I decided I should make the most of that last half a day and get some relaxing in too!

With the dust mite allergy he gets hives but only minor ones (thank goodness). I guess when we are back to the reality of day to day life I will quickly find out how often is enough. I just have to keep reminding myself to keep on top of it.

Yes i know what it is like. if the place gets too meesy then i just don't know where to start. i supoose it's the tidying up before i even start cleaning that gets me.

You will be fine if you manage to stop the clutter before it starts, then you can clean a bare surface.. easier said than done though!!
