Washing up greasy dishes

I know it sounds a quite basis question but...
DH and I have 2 very different ways to clean greasy dishes and we don't agree as to who is right (well I am of course Wink)

DH thinks it is fine to wash the dish as per normal (water in the sink, bubbles in the water and on the sponge). I am finding that said dish is always still greasy afterwards.
I do put a little bit of washing product directly in the dish. DH thinks it is wasteful and not necessary.

So how do you pans/lunch boxes (with sald dressing in) etc... so that they are cleaned (no grease) ?

We are veggies so don't have very greasy stuff very often.

In my MIL household a lot of greasy dishes are created. My MIL is queen of clean and the way she taught me was to wipe up as much grease as possible with kitchen roll first and bin it rather than letting it go down your plughole. She would then rub a little dilute washing up liquid into the dish and leave it to the side while she did the glasses etc and do the greasy items last. She would wash it in the "end" of the dishwater, then rinse it under a very hot tap and then wash it in fresh water.
I suspect your dh would have a fit at the use of cleaning stuff but it does work. Her grill pan, used every day for bacon, square sausage and the like is like brand new. Grin

OK Can I ask you?
Bar the very greasy pans/roasting dish etc..., would you do that with less greasy items such as one that had salad dressing in?

Rinsed or soaked first in plain hot water.

Then they go in washing up bowl at the end of washing up with an extra boost of w up liquid on the brush or pan scrubber.

Rinsed in v hot water.

Easy.

The salad dressing would get a quick squirt of washing up liquid at the start of doing the dishes, or before it went in the dishwasher, and would be done at the end. I would also rinse in scalding hot water if it still felt a bit oily.
