Chaos theory of my tupperware cupboard

I have a pretty small cupboard in which to fit all my tupperware (for tupperware read: take away boxes Grin). It has been an endless source of tension between DH and I, he seems incapable of understand that the square boxes go in the square boxes, the oval (ice cream) tubs go in the oval tubs etc., simple shape sorting that even a toddler could understand. So we agreed to buy new tupperware that all fit together rather than the mishmash of tubs I collected, however fairly soon my inability to throw pots away soon meant the cupboard became overrun with tubs.

However I have noticed that since giving in to the chaos I have actually never had a problem finding appropriate tubs and lids, and the tubs never seem to fall out any more when I am trying to remove nicely stacked tubs. This is a revelation! I've also applied the same principle to DD1's toy boxes. There is no point in trying to keep all the toys nicely separate, it wastes so much time!

So, embrace the chaos, chaos is your friend, from chaos comes order...

Don't let my DH read this. Our tupperware cupboard (read ALL cupboards) are a constant source of tension for us. In fact, we had the biggest row we've ever had over the airing cupboard. Blush

Returns all embraces.

Looks for aforementioned order. Looks harder. Sad

My Mother interfers with my tupperware cupboard. She loses lids, mixes her stuff with mine. It drives me bonkers but I can't really complain as she cooks delicious healthy food for DS and brings them over!
I hide my picnic tupper ware under the stairs 'cause I don't need that aggro before making a packed lunch or picnic. Sometimes I hide it so well that I can't find it Blush

I have a big wicker basket that fits nicely in the cupboard so I can pull it all out and have a good rummage.

My DH never seemed to be able to find the right lid and used to get in a flap over it, so I have started storing them in a deep drawer with the lids on, wish I had thought of this before! Saves loads of time (and rows) Smile

We have to store with the lids on or Dh can't cope. He is a very intelligent man but can't find tupperware lids - ever!

OP words cannot express my precise empathy with your tupperware situation.

I have a half ton of ancient, yellowing, historical tupperware which smells of aged plastic and was given to me by a relative. Would it be good feng shui to get rid of it do you think?

Starbear · 15/02/2011 14:11

Get rid now and feel the Karma of letting go.
Then dust off a photo of said relative and remember the good time and you'll be rewarded by St Peter at the gate. Or Buddha

Grin may fly lady rain blessings of good karma on your lovely head Star.
