Do you have curtains in your kitchen?

We've just moved. Loads of work to to and we've got a new kitchen going in tomorrow.

The person who had the house before us has a blind with curtains and tie backs at the sink window. I don't like curtains in a kitchen but TBH the mess taking the pole down will leave in the plastic surround will annoy me more than putting new curtains up.

What do you have? I can easily get a cream blind - would you have red curtains? I am just not sure having never had curtains in a kitchen before. I am thinking red because my kettle and toaster are red.

We have a 3 pane bay window in our kitchen with blinds at each piece of glass to keep out the sun. We have curtains but rarely close them except in winter to keep cold out.

TBH, its a rented house and I would not have had the curtains if it had been my choice.

I suppose a compromise might be pull down roller blinds or roman blinds made of an easily cleaned opaque fabric. If you have a smallish window then red sounds good but a bit overpowering in a very big window.

aaah Roman Blind might work as they could sit where the pole is - I don't think they have to sit under the woodwork against the window do they?

I dont have blinds or curtains at my kitchen window as I have an amazing view and dont want anything to block it.

If I had to have a cover it would be a blind that I could wipe/wash regularly.

No - I want plenty of light and fresh air in my kitchen.

Anything at the window will get dirty and damp.

Besides I have a nosey neighbour so I like to give hims full view when he's starring in so I can flash.

Ooopsadaisy · 13/02/2011 10:18

hims? There is only one of him thankfully, the nosey old git.

Yes, but only because they were there when we moved in and the window is single glazed and needs replacing.
When the kitchen has been redecorated and the window replaced we will replace the curtains with a blind.

I have seen Roman blinds sit outside the frame as well as against the pane.

I need something as the mess that removing the curtains will leave will bother me more. The blinds will never be down. Just decoaration/covering a mess!

It mught have to be a roman blind.

I have wooden slat blinds - in a light oak colour. But, my kitchen is small (only one large window), and I can easily wipe them clean.
