Do you have a present drawer? Ooh I'd LOVE a present drawer...

I have always hankered after having a drawer of presents for emergencies. I am working towards being more organised so obviously this is a step towards this.

What I'd like is not to be going to

  • someone's house for dinner/coffee
  • out for drinks for someone's birthday
  • a child's birthday
and have to rush out to find an appropriate gift when usually it's the same old same old.

I DO have a card box which I add to here and there whenever I see good unisex age cards or whatever.
And I bulk buy fun "all occasion" wrapping paper when I see it.

But would love some inspiration as to what would be good to fill it and good value things to keep in the house for giving away to other people. Hmm

TIA

I have a few presents stashed away. A few have been there for a while now as I think I like shopping too much. But I figure they are good for raffle donations?

I have a present drawer, but made the mistake of telling my friend. So now I usually get a phone call from her half an hour before the party asking me if there is anything going spare in the drawer she can buy off me and could I possibly wrap too. Don't mind though as the deal is she gets the goods but takes my kids to party and does the 2 hours of hell and I feel smug and organised. Happened today infect.
So remember the fight club rules and apply to present drawer.

i have the top shelf in my larder and i collect gifts in the sales and bargains from amazon. i also put the pressies i have had and dont want there to be recycled Blush. last year i bought every gift needed for over a year for all the females in the family from the boots 70% off sale after xmas. i still have some left, we have had a financially tight year so it has been a godsend. i have to say i didnt do it this year as we will be moving in the summer and i dont want loads of broken perfume sets. i also buy packs of books from bookpeople and books direct 'deal of the week' they are great to use as pressies. tesco do great packs of childrens birthday cards so i make sure i have some of them. tkmaxx is also a great place to get pressies for my stash, i have a barbie musical flying horse in my stash that i bought for £7 in clearance, i think they were over £40 in toys r us. i did have three but DD1 had one and another went as a gift for a friends daughter. when people give me chocolates i try and hide them on the shelf as well so i have something to give if we have to rush off to visit someone.

I have a bit of a stash for DS - small playmobile stuff; books and art sets that I see cheaply. It comes in handy for rewards and presents; although I did a big sort out at xmas and don't have much in hand at the moment!

Always used to when dd was younger, and going to lots of parties. Also had a bit of a grown up one with candles, chocs. Now, just buy when needed, usually Clare's Accessories, or Primark gift vouchers for kids. Still try to have the odd candle/choc for going to supper, to stop me going to shop and adding £20.oo plus to bill for other food/stuff.

I keep a couple of things in the back of a cupboard. It's not exactly a planned thing on my part. The pressies tend be those that my boys have received - which they have already!!
