My son managed to get chewing gum on the (expensive) trackies i bought him for xmas. I tried the freezer trick but no joy as it was ground right in to the thin fabric. Then i discovered that WD40 removes chewing gum-- it was great just dissolved it
Anyone else know of any odd but useful uses for things like that.

Did WD40 not stain said clothes? It's oil-based isn't it?

It didnt at all although they are dark blue, not sure whether i would dare on light colours

Vinegar works on chewing gum too.

I'm just about to try getting paint out of DP's Tshirt using sainsbury's basics gin.

Parsnips, please let me know if it works on paint; must have tried everything else (on best wooly jumper)

reporting back - it works a bit - took lots of rubbing to shift it and it was only on the surface of the cloth. I think something with a higher alcohol content would have been more effective. I have heard that alcohol-based hand sanitiser works best.
