ahem..."housekeeping" magazine recommendations!

I can't believe I'm saying these words out loud... but can anyone recommend any good home magazines?! I've recently become a SAHM, partly through choice, partly through circumstance (basically I asked to go back two days a week, my employer said full time or no time, so I decided to not go back at all). I'm loving the "mum" side of things...its the "home" side I'm struggling with! I'm completely, hopelessly undomesticated. I do love to cook but when it comes to other household tasks I'm clueless. So I'm looking for a good magazine to:

a. teach me how to run a household
b. inspire me to clean (yikes!)
c. keep my interest along the way!

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

I don't tend to like modern housekeeping magazines (which always want me to buy more stuff and tell me if I just do it right housekeeping can be effortless. And it never is.) but love and collect old housekeeping books. They have lots of really good tips for cleaning and how to manage a workload - even if it the tips are more funny than practical sometimes!

Honestly, nothing makes me feel better about housework than reading about how hard it all used to be (not that it's a bucket of monkeys these days, but at least I don't have to take apart my knives before I wash them). Makes me feel positively smug to break out the bissell and slap some clothes in the wash. ;)

Old magazines are great too. I guess you're in the UK, so this might not be useful to you but I'm in Canada and there used to be a magazine called Family Herald (in the 40s) which is still kicking around at garage sales and thrift stores. Sometimes it has some great cleaning tips, hilarious fashion photos and ads, and really incredible recipes. Worth checking them out!

If you the FlyLady thing don't sign up for the emails as I did - 34 today. Need to visit site again and unsubscribe.
I only found out about it a couple of days ago so am pretty much a novice but it looks like it's got potential for me anyway. Not sure about the getting dressed to lace up shoes though, what's that about? Don't own any!!Smile Hellebore1

With regards to b... Watch 'How clean is your house?' without fail it always inspires me to get cleaning!

I've always love Good Housekeeping magazine, my mum used to get it when I was little.

They do proper consumer tests too - none of that Mummy Grump baloney.
