what to do with old stuff? ebay?

So I've been lurking for ages and have been decluttering and taking on board lots of notes. I piles of stuff that's been sorted and I now no longer need.

What do you do with your old stuff? The quickest thing I can do is give it to charity, but I know that if I sold it, I would get £000s. If I sell on ebay, how easy is it? Also, I will still have stuff lying around till it's sold.

Advice please... x

Try it with something small and easy to post. See if you like it. I find it OK but my tip is don't list loads of things at once. It can get quite difficult to manage if you do more than say 6 listings at a time. (well it is for me!)

If it's baby or maternity related why not do both? Sell it at an NCT Nearly New Sale and you get the bulk of the money and the charity gets a bit. Best of both worlds!

Thanks. I may do both. The other half of my says to give the lot away and be done with it. I feel very unsettled with piles of stuff lined up down the side of the bedroom.

I know how you feel. I feel like I'm living in a stock room atm. Roll on 5th Feb when I can dump sell it at sale Grin

Think it depends what the stuff is. It is a bit of effort ebaying stuff, you have to press it, photo it, upload, then post it blah blah blah! Unless it's fab quality you won't get a lot for it so may feel a bit more of an effort than it is worth.

Think I'll get a table at the local NCT sale.

I've never done one before. What can I expect? Actually rather excited about getting rid of it all!

It depends if it's table top or ticketed. Some of them have changed. Have you checked which type your local one does?

Gumtree is good if you live in a big city.

No listing fees, no commission, and no faffing around in the post office or tracking lost parcels. People come, they give you cash, then they take your stuff away.

We've just culled the DVD and book collection to clear out spare room for ds. Charity chop for paperbacks and eBay for DVDs. Just sold first batch and got over £100. Not too bad and not much hassle as did paypal self print postage thingy so just had the certificates of postage stamped- took 5 mins tops. :)
