Fabric softener as air freshener?

MommyMayhem · 23/01/2011 09:17

Somebody posted on here a while ago about how they put some fabric softener in a spray thing with some water, and spray it around the house to make it smell nice.

Well, I bought some fabric softener (don't ordinarily use it) and a little spray bottle, but now can't find the thread. Can anybody tell me how much fabric softener to water you need to use and where to spray it?

Thanks!

I just wipe some neat on to radiators, I know kim and Aggie put it on lightbulbs.

I live in the Middle East, so don't have radiators. Thanks anyway!

Lightbulbs work, or the inside of your lightshade. You can also add a bit to the water you use for washing your floors!

I'm not convinced by this idea, isn't fabric conditioner pure chemicals? Do you really want to be breathing in more silicones, emulsifiers and preservatives?

Wouldn't pure essential oils (i.e pure plant extract with no additional ingredients) be better?

Crikey, I don't know HollyBollyBooBoo. I was using oils in oil burners, but I thought I'd try something different. You might have a point, though.

i use about 50:50 water to fabric softener. but like others have said usually sprayed on radiators, tv bulbs anywhere that gets warm. essential oils are great...more ecologically sound, i put a couple of dabs on cotton wool and put in my hoover bag so it smells nice as i go.

I normally use two capfuls per bottle. I also spray it on clothes before ironing :)
