For some reason the ones on DH's side of the bed have gone a yellow colour Shock

I have tried washing them at 60 degrees with usual powder and glow white sachet. Still yellow tinge...

So today tried again at 90 degrees. Still got a yellow tinge.

Has anyone got any good tips for getting them white again? Or do I have to throw them out and start again?

are you using biological powder?

if not suggest you do, and in future always do

cece · 19/01/2011 22:00

Ah, no I don't have biological powder as DC3 has eczema. Will buy a pack specially for the duvets and pillowcases! Hadn't thought of that, thanks.

Even if they stayed yellow, I wouldn't chuck them if I was you - if your DH is mysteriously turning them yellow I'd put a couple on the pillow to protect it, before the white outer.

Another good idea. Thank you.

Boil wash with a little bleach? Or vanish stain remover first?

cece · 19/01/2011 22:19

Tried the stain remover a while ago...

My dh does this, and to his side of the sheets - nothing worked and I even went through a phase of secretly adjusting our diet in case it was making him sweat acid or something... that was pre-baby of course.

Now I just moan a lot and make him keep having the stained ones and keep some nice spares if anyone else is going to see. But I think I'll try bio liquid on them now.

FlyingSquirrel · 20/01/2011 23:04

Wash your husband in bio detergent?

Oh, and tell him to lay off the fake tan.

PollyMorfic · 20/01/2011 23:04

Wait till summer, and then hang them out damp in full sunlight, several times if necessary. That'll shift it. Sunlight even shifts bright orange bfed baby poo stains out of terry nappies, it's the dogs wotsits. And it's free (though elusive). Smile

Will try the sunlight. In the meantime he can have the cheap poly cotton ones on his side Grin

Would try - bio powder, hot wash, sun drying.

But why is it that dh's side of the bed is always worse? It's the same here!

cece · 21/01/2011 23:13

LOL.

Not sure what he does! No fake tan, no hair products, in fact very little hair at all!
