Greasy splashback - help!

We have a stainless steel splashback behind our cooker, and normally the E-Cloth sorts it out with no problem. But not this time - I have boiled it and run it through the washing machine (the E-Cloth, that is) with no joy. Then I bought a bottle of Stainless steel cleaner by Method which is so useless that I'm going to get a refund. Any advice? I have a visit from horribly house-proud in-laws tomorrow so it would be great to sort this one out! Is Cillit Bang good?

Cillit Bang will sort it, rub in some baby oil when it's clean.

WD40 - seriously? Do you leave it on for a bit?

Vim spray degreaser is very effective.

Thanks - off to the garage in search of WD40...

alternatively I rub my with baby oil and come up a treat - even my mother who caught me doing it a christmas was gob smacked (she has a degree in OCD cleanliness!) as it worked s beautifully

Just a couple of drops onto kitchen roll and wipe it in "with the grain" iyswim

I use a drop of washing up liquid on a damp cloth ,work to a lather , wipe off and polish
