How much to get electricity in our shed?

I wonder how much it would cost to get electricity in our shed so I could put a light in there and put our chest freezer in their.

Does anyone know?

TIA.

If you have capacity on your switch board for an outside circuit it should be do able on a day rate for an electrician plus armoured cable cost and fittings costs. I would guestimate if the shed is fairly close to the house then £500 should do it.

If you want to bury cables (rather than go overhead) and dig up drives etc that would add to the costs.

depends how far away the shed is and whether you need to bury the cables or not (better if you do I think).

Even burying the cables it shouldn't take more than a day or two (unless going through concrete) - would be quicker with a mini digger - but if you have light soil (not our heavy clay) then could be done by hand.

You could also do a lot of the labouring yourselves and just get an electrician to connect it up and check it is safe. I think you have to have a qualified electrician to do anything with fuse boxes now.

I think we ought to be able to go overhead so that's better than digging up the drive!

I had hoped that it would be less than that, but I do what a certified sparky in who is NICE registered so the work is safe and certified.

Thanks for your replie ANT, I appreciate it.

Thanks Throck, I don't think we could dig under the drive, as it's raised - it's hard to describe but I don't think it would be worth it to dig it up.
