I recently bought one which was the cheapest "which' best buy which I have been very happy with Zanussi 7kg 6755ow. I bought it from Next Online home furnishings place and I did loads of research on cheapest placeand there were about 3 of which next is part of same group which charged the same. The othe Which best buys were all really expensivecan't remember how much it was but 350 + I think

thebonkers · 16/01/2011 10:48

nb meant to say I have which membership so I could research them

thebonkers · 16/01/2011 10:49

NBBB I would have loved Bosch one but was very pricey for ultimately what you need it for...

We have a Whirlpool one. We run a B&B and have 2 small children so it gets pretty heavy usage, we have had it for nearly 6 years and still going strong.

arentfanny · 16/01/2011 11:02

DH did fix the drive belt once.

RachelHRD · 16/01/2011 12:12

We have an Indesit IDCA835 which I'm very happy with. It has sensor drying and a good capacity and is not too noisy.

StealthPolarStuckSpaceBar · 16/01/2011 13:10

ooh thank you all. Will look into the zanussi one and indesit, thanks tb and Rachel, also which whirlpool one do you have af?

we have had our Miele one for 10 years and still going strong and never needed any repairs so far. expensive but SO worth it.

StealthPolarStuckSpaceBar · 16/01/2011 16:25

What's the model?
We are looking to spend up to about £700

It's a Novatronic T27OC - but I doubt they even have that make anymore as it is so old! IIRC it was about 700 quid. I have just had a look on line and they are about 650 - 700 for driers.

I LOVE mine as it means I rarely have to iron - the clothes don't get creases as it has a sensor, and it has 9 min smoothing option, so even if I leave clothes in over night, I just turn on the smoothing cycle and then fold straight from the drier - it's WONDERFUL. And cheap to run too - I use it all the time and it probably costs about £2 extra a week on electricity.

I can talk for HOURS about the quality of Miele Grin

taytotayto · 16/01/2011 19:16

we just got a hoover vision hd last week cost around £275 i think its b rated 8kg . dh picked it and i thought it would be crap. but i cant tell you how pleased i am with it. its great. you can't hear it when its on. i never thought such a dryer existed. the clothes come out not needing an iron. im shocked. had to eat humble pie. i didnt want it but god am i glad he went for it. for the money its a steal.

StealthPolarStuckSpaceBar · 16/01/2011 21:14

dammit now I'm having the opposite problem, you are all convincing me and I have no idea which to choose.
Myabe I shoud hold X factor style auditions.

oh honestly go for the hoover its an 8kg and the more i use it the more i love it. the clothes dry sooooooo quickly. you might need to make a list and go see them all in the shop. its so hard to choose one i know.

StealthPolarStuckSpaceBar · 18/01/2011 21:04

that sounds like a lot of work
hoover one you say...

i have a bosch one which is fab... will try and find it and do a link

StealthPolarStuckSpaceBar · 18/01/2011 21:08

OK, it's fate
If you recommend the same one asI started with I'll get that one
if not I'll look t prices &detials of the others and then do some sort of complicated coin toss :)

ok this is the closest I can see to ours, they must not do the exact model any more

anyway, i am really happy with it. the water tank is really big and takes ages to fill

efficiency-wise it was better than a lot of other models

it has a child-lock

it has a sensor drying thingy, so it stops when the clothes are dry, rather than just going on a timer (tho you can use timer if you want)

it has varying stages of "dryness" so you can do things line dry, cupboard dry, extra dry etc etc

takes a HUGE load

it's pretty quiet

ours gets used a lot as there are 5 of us and inc one in cloth nappies, and it has never had a problem over the last 18 months or so

thisisyesterday · 18/01/2011 21:13

this one is also similar.... but still not exactly the same.

ours was around £400 tho iirc

thisisyesterday · 18/01/2011 21:16

ok. no no no

i think that this next one is definitely the closest to ours see here

StealthPolarStuckSpaceBar · 19/01/2011 12:48

hmmmm
I am still procrastinating
thanks for all the links

if you have a local independent store it might be worth looking there?

we got all our appliances from a local place when we moved in. the staff were really knowledgeable and could tell us which machines were quiestest, which ones they had back most often for repairs (!) etc etc
and they also did cut the price a bit for us. we paid more than if we'd bought online, but they delivered free the same day and we have somewhere to go if anything goes wrong
