Supermarket bag packing - made easy!

I was in my local supermarket the other day and watched a lady pack her bags at the supermarket and was amazed. I get all flustered, and usually have 2 small children with me so anything goes in any bag (I do try and put the heavier/bigger stuff on first), but it's still a bit of a nightmare and I have to sort out everything again when I get home.

Anyway, what she did was put everything on the conveyor belt, got out her canvas type reusable bags and opened them all in her trolley. As soon as the girl had scanned it she put it in whatever bag she wanted.

I have done it today and it was so stress-free. I had bags for fridge food, freezer, cupboard, bathroom, non-food etc. I must say, you will need to go to a checkout that has someone before you because you need to get everything on and your bags open before before she starts scanning.

Most people could have said that in a few sentances - sorry!

I always pick a till with someone in front of me for the same reason. Makes a big difference!

Or you could try Aldi where everything zips towards you at a speedy rate, you shove it back in the trolley as it comes, and then you move over to a packing area and pack at your leisure.

I get backache putting it all into the deep trolleys, so sort it oto the conveyor and have 2/3 large bags ready to sort it into as it comes off.

I love the strong bottle bags, fab for stacking tins/jars into (as well as wine!) without making a large bag too heavy.

I usually avoid Aldi because of the speed everything comes towards me - they are fast aren't they! Will have to try that.

And we are doing our bit for the environment too. Must just keep trying to remember to take them!

I always hang one bulky bag (but lightweight stuff) on the hook near the handle. I put items such as bread and crisps in here. It gives more room and I never use a deep trolley cos I am 4ft 11 and I cant reach the bottom of it and have hurt my back trying in the past.

If there I no highlevel trolleys I do to customer service and ask. I can get £100 or more of stuff in such a trolley.

Hate Aldi! It's flung at you at high speed with nowhere to pack your bag.
I can never find enough in there for more than one bag though luckily.

Teenage experience as a supermarket bag packer has actually been quite usefulSmile
