loads of stuff

dishwasher, loading/unloading
setting/clearing tables

pet care feeding/poo patrol/litter trays

loading washing machine/dryer

and at that age how about them being in charge of a meal once a week??

TitianTinselTemptress · 02/01/2011 20:38

I did all my own laundry from age 12. And what Catsmamma said!

Same as Catsmama, plus hoovering and polishing, cleaning the bathroom, ironing etc.

My boys are 11 and 13. They have to do 1 chore every day: they have done from being small. They accept that it's part of living in a shared household/family, not in a hotel!

They are both capable of doing just about any of the household chores that need doing. So I usually give them a choice of various things that need doing

hoovering
dusting
sorting laundry
operating washing machine/dryer
handing out washing
sweeping floors
mopping floors
cleaning bathroom
loading/emptying dishwasher
washing up/drying up
ironing (ds2 can do this, but ds1 can't Hmm)
sorting recyling
emptying bins
stripping/re-making beds

DS 6 strips his bed on a Sunday morning, hoovers his room, sets the table, puts his ironed clothes away.

Going to teach him nest how to mop but can't face the possible floods at the moment Grin.

My ds1 who's 12 has had to help clean today because I've been ill with a uti. He did the entire kitchen Grin

Had to nag him a bit, but he did a fairly good job.

He also cleans the bathroom.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 03/01/2011 04:04

i am about to start teaching my ds(5) how to notice when things need done rather than waiting to be told to do something. i noticed with his dad (exp) that he only ever did something when asked and then of course accused me of nagging so i don't intend to raise 2 more versions of that! Grin
