i did a mass clean up before christmas and got rid of loads of rubbish the kids had unused items, but i want to start getting into a routine and thought that jan 1st would be the best time to start i may even use flylady in parts.
would anyone else like to join in so i dont feel like a loner overwelmed and for a bit of moral support and encouragement. i feel that it is the one thing i can change without anyone critisising.

is everybody ready for their new start as of tomorrow???

i had a lie-in today (thank you ds2) that was officially my last one for a long time. from tomorrow it's early bird cathy worm.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 31/12/2010 13:03

he4llo ladies...was getting abit worried that i was the only person in the country whos house was messy and that needed new routines!

loving the breaking it down into days, makes it seem more definite.

iloveitwhen i too will be getting up early again to get back to school routine and get things done of a morning. im better when everything has a time to be done my house was cleaner when i worked 2 jobs and was at uni full time...i schedualed cleaning...may have to do it again, as i have started to take a few classes again this term. [what am i letting myself in for emotion]

and also the arrival of DD in may threw me somewhat!

anyway ladies i will be posting first thing in the morning to see what i have to do that day.

the breaking it down into days works for me because i have a very low boredome trheshold so an hour is about all i can manage before i throw in the towel. if i left myself to do a weekly lean, i know i would only get a tiny bit done before i felt i had 'earnt' a MN break, and as we all know, once you sit down to MN it is very hard to get back up again. so an hour a day it is for me. hopefully taht keeps on top of things.

i was the same, when i worked, teh cleaning just somehow got done. i don't even remember havinga routine. it just got done but since i left to have ds2 almost 2 years ago, i just dont do anything. time for change though. starting tomorrow. no more excuses.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 31/12/2010 14:38

oh yes tomorrow and sunday will be a mammoth clean for me but i will basically follow my weekly routine just fit it into two days so it will be a long weekend!!

InkyStamp · 31/12/2010 14:43

Marking my place. Will read thread and contribute properly later! Need to put away shopping that has just arrived!

MusicalMummyJules · 31/12/2010 15:02

Attempted to start a deep clean yesterday, did quite well as cleaned and sorted most of the kitchen and bathroom and was going do the rest today in preparation for friends coming over for dinner and fireworks but we've all come down with the Norrovirus so no more cleaning and no friends over! Hopefully will feel better tomorrow and can get back on it as it feels so good to have a clean kitchen and bathroom despite feeling so ill!

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 31/12/2010 16:48

oh no musicalmummy, how awful. well if you're looking on the brightside of things, at least it's a valid excuse for not cleaning! hope you all get better soon.

twinterror · 31/12/2010 20:22

Hi all! And happy new year!

Well apart from the continuous washing/ drying/ putting away cycle it's my scheduled cleaning day off! I can stick to the plan so far I think! :)

I may do some tidying and try to persuade dh to sort his eBay pile! May be a challenge!

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 01/01/2011 11:39

Happy new year all!!

i have been crap this morning. i stayed up last night watching Tim minchin and doing my tan and nails for a party tonight so i was too exhausted to get up early this morning (so nothing new there then!) and then to top it all off, EXP hasn't turned up for contact so i have to work round the dcs when i was hoping to get a good 4 hour stretch to make a dent in the house!!

ah well, going to get dressed now and give it a bash.

itshappenedagain · 01/01/2011 14:16

hello again...three loads of washing down and a lot more couple of loads more to go. getting there though.

im about to tackle the tree ( not literally obviously) as i want to get it outside before it goes dark!

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 01/01/2011 15:35

ok so EXp finally turned up and i got wash on, the kitchen tidied and the downstairs floors done, put another wash on and all the xmas decs have been moved upstairs but i ran out of time so had to abandon all that and get in the shower to get ready for the party this evening.

TanteAC · 04/01/2011 21:00

Apart from being totally distracted and up and down the motorway all over Christmas (my Dsis had a baby - yay! Smile)I have managed to:

  • clear out our bedroom (this took fecking forever)
  • cleared out ALL clutter from sitting room/kitchen/hallways, etc
  • sorted out my clothes and shoes (took the longest Blush)
  • sorted out laundry system

GO ME! Grin

So now have to:

  • declutter bathroom
  • deep clean bathroom
  • clear out spare room
  • take all the shit extraneous matter to tip/charity shop
  • get the 'big shop' in (and stop eating out all the time! Am sooo lazy!)

DH was Shock when he came back from work after a few days away!

Good going, everyone else! This is keeping me motivated! Thank you!

soppypreggyloon · 05/01/2011 08:21

Today I have LOADS of jobs to do and clean the bathroom while ds is having his nap. I might not have any time left to veg out with a cup and a biscuit! :(

Actually who am I kidding it'll be the first thing I do once he's asleep! Grin

truffleshuffle · 05/01/2011 11:07

Hi can I join you?
I have sooo much to do in the house that it would take me forever to list it all so I'll just post the list I have for today and see how I get on.

Washing,drying,sorting and putting away.

Ironing - I'll do some tonight when DC's are in bed I think.

Give 2nd paint coat to DD's room so that DP can put up curtain pole when he gets home.

Clean the health hazard bathroom including changing shower curtain.

Clear back porch of crap so i can fit the pram into it.

When pram is moved from hallway declutter that and mop the floor.

List ebay things.

I'll just make a brew and I'll start Smile

soppypreggyloon · 05/01/2011 13:02

so far...

washer on
clothes out and drying
ds's sheets soaking in biological to get bleurgh stains out
food shop done and put away
2 annoying phone calls made and no progress made Angry
bathroom cleaned
cup of tea and biscuits consumed Grin

hopefully ds will be in a cooperative mood so we can go carpet shopping later Hmm

truffleshuffle · 06/01/2011 10:18

I managed to do all of my list yesterday apart from the ironing!
Todays list....

Empty ashes from fire

Clean and tidy kitchen - declutter tops, sweep and mop floor.

Hoover

Clean loo

Ironing!!!

soppypreggyloon · 06/01/2011 12:37

well done truffle! i'm a non-ironer so can see how easy it would be to not get round to doing it (ever!) :)

yesterday i also
got ds's sheets like new
bought a replacement drying rack as ds crushed my other one climbing it
went to 2 carpet shops which was a waste of time as they were too £££
cleaned the inside of the oven door

today well probably not as much
hoovered downstairs but have decided its too noisy while ds is sleeping
dusted
sorted 2 of the phone calls on my to do list

i've got school work to do though so i might try and get that done so i've got weekend free.
hoovering upstairs will have to wait till dh gets home but the hoover is up there to remind me!

how's everyone else doing on their fresh start?

LoveBeingADaddysGirl · 06/01/2011 16:56

Hi guys I said I was going to join then forgot Blush

anyway today I have, hoovered living room and kitchen, done loads of washing and drying, got some bits from the shops, visited mum for about 3 hours, ran around after 2 yr old dd, been working on the laptop to ensure the virus has gone, been looking for a new job, filled, emptied and started restaking the dishwasher, hand washed some pots.

So tomorrow dh is off work but going out about lunch time so will be going shopping, washing, clean the bathroom, would also like to Dort out dome stuff to sell.

bumbums · 06/01/2011 22:59

Definately need to watch this thread. Just had the many times repeated lecture from DH about how I don't go out to work so I should be on top of the house work.
The house is majorly cluttered and every storage recepticle full.
Have no routine for cleaning/tidying and the state of the place intimidates me! Confused
Want to do better!
