My car doors won;t open - think they're frozen

What's the best thing to do?
Pour hot water over the handles? Or will this cause some kind of damage I might not have thought of?

Not helpful now, but I think I read somewhere that if you smear vaseline on the rubber seals it will stop then sticking next time.

this happened to me today. I had to climb in through the boot, heat car up from inside and then let myself out!

Would pouring a kettle of hot water over the door be really bad?

I'd try some hot water.
I couldn't shut mine again during the cold last week, the mechanism opened but then was too cold to close!

just don't close the boot fully until you can open doors!

don't use hot water if it goes on the window it can crack. tepid water should do it, but you will have a patch of ice on the floor so be careful

I went to see the garage which sold me my car when it did this every day when it was below zero - they suggested vaseline round the door

Mine does this (zafira). drives me mad. Am defiinitely going to try the vaseline idea!
