i put a load on on monday and then the whole family came down with food poisoning!
i rewashed it this morning and its all come out blue! dh had put in an apron of ds' and all my white sheets are blue!!! :(
i have put them out to dry as i think they're done for and i need the washer on again to dead with the food poisoning aftermath.

they're not salvageable after going round the washer twice are they?

BUM!

If they are pure white i think you could try a bit of bleach in the washing machine next time?

soppypreggyloon · 15/12/2010 12:44

no - they have a pattern on them.

have you tried a colour run remover?

soppypreggyloon · 16/12/2010 18:23

no - as they'd been washed and left and then rewashed again i thought the colour was pretty much set.
they've dried now and look less blue - but a bit grubby iyswim. :(
still dh's reaction was to just go buy more! i see that as free license to get more towels and other house-y things in the sales! :)

Dylon colour run remover really does work. my mother put on a red wine coloured towel in with some aqua towels. The run remover turned the grungy grey towels back to aqua :)

Second the Dylon one - DD's jeans went in with some sheets by mistake and left blue splodges everywhere - I'd washed them a few times before trying the Dylon - now I can't tell which sheet it was that was damaged...

soppypreggyloon · 17/12/2010 17:37

oh well dylon it is then!
i'll try it next time i wash the sheets -if it worked for your sheets josie then it might on mine as it sounds like the same situation. :)

Ariel have a whitener out now. Tried it on our spare bedroom bedlinen after the dog left a big brown ground in dog sleeps here mark and it worked a treat. Was about £4 so worth a shot.

The Dylon stuff is good - I once decided DHs white works shirts could do with a hot wash. Didn't notice the red sock clinging to the drum from the previous load. He is not the sort of chap to wear pink shirts. The run remover salvaged his plain white shirts, but took some of the colour out of the striped ones (they were useless part pink anyway).
