House plant teaming with fruit flies?

Hello
I have a plant in my kitchen and the soil is teaming with what I think are fruit flies.

They are now in the kitchen and bathroom.

How do I get rid of them? Do I need to get rid of the plant or can I just spray it madly with fly spray?

Thanks

fruit fies tend to be attracted to left-out food

if you do have them, you need to get all food put in the fridge and off your surfaces

disinfect everywhere, then put out glasses of vinegar (just an inch at the bottom) - cover the glass with cling film then poke a few small holes in them. You can use banana too.- the ff's will crawl into the glass but won't be able to get back out. The little buggers drown. Ha!

they are a nightmare but theabove method deffo works - keep replacing the glasses until you're rid

Thank you.
I have put the plant outside as I could see the eggs hatching. Truly gross.

But fascinating! I would suggest getting rid of plant or changing compost.

I have done some more googling and I think they are fungus gnats. The plant is outside and I think it will need re potting.

No more flies in the house though which is good.
