Essential oils on radiators? Which smells?

I've been reading on here about alternative ways of making your home smell nice.

How do you do it? JUst put drops of the neat oil on? Do you mix oils?

Also - which are good fresh smells - there were too many to choose from when I looked yesterday. I want a nice clean, fresh smell.

Thanks.

I like vanilla. I have a ceramic ring that I got ages ago from The Body Shop and I sit that on top of the radiator. It's supposed to sit on top of a lightbulb but that was too much of a faff. You could put it in a little dish or on a piece of cloth I suppose rather than straight on the radiator.

Lemon, Orange, Lavender are my top 3!

Someone on here once suggested fabric conditioner! I love it!

You can get the ceramic tubes that sit slot over your radiators.

Or stuff cotton wool somewhere with some drops on?

My favourite has to be lavendar.

Thanks.

Celia do you use them altogether or individually?

I'd use them individually, put a few drop on a tissue/hanky then put it on the radiator.

I'd not recommend putting them straight onto a radiator. I did that years ago and it took the paint off!

I've ordered one of those magnetic radiator diffusers Xmas Grin

I like lavender and geranium, mixed together.

You can put about 10 drops in a tiny bit of vodka (so it properly dissolves) in an aerosol spray and top up with water and then spray round the house. Otherwise one of those aroma therapy burners with a tealight. If you like it in a bath then it is best to again dissolve up to 8 drops in some vodka or milk or another oil like almond oil before adding to the water.

I like green mandarin (very fresh smell) or bergamot to spray in house. You can buy a huge range of oils at the website of butterbur and sage. They are very good quality (and some are therefore quite pricey).

Agree with previous poster don't put directly on radiator (will damage paint). Also, many oils are skin irritants if directly used on skin (e.g without using an oil to blend them). I also use my aerosol spray when I am ironing on the bedding, works really well but some oils may stain though (e.g. green mandarin will stain, bergamot is fine).

Ooo I love the spay idea! Thank you.

Will explore lavender and geranium. Xmas Smile
