Sainsbury's: favourite products?

I used to shop in Sainsbury's years ago, it was our nearest supermarket (and we didn't have kids). Then we moved, and there wasn't one, and our budget was tighter so shopped elsewhere.

They have just started delivering to my area, I currently use Tesco although Asda deliver too. I was excited to hear this and started looking at the website - and have drawn a complete blank. What's good/different about Sainsbury's? Best products? I've bunged this in GH because I'm interested in non-food items too, cleaning products, anything really!

I'll do one shop there to compare I think. Because it's new it might be less busy too...

Sainsbo's delivery service is much, much better than Tesco ime.

I alternate between Sainsburys and Tesco for deliveries, although there is an Asda near me which I am not fond of, but do think it is cheaper.

The main thing I like about Tesco is the price match on substitutions - I often do very well out of wines on offer that they can't deliver!

However, I do think Sainsbury's have better offers and I like the fact that their delivery slots are one hour rather than two - i.e. 7-8pm as opposed to 7-9pm with Tesco. I tend to use lots of their own brand products, but don't buy much processed foods, so can't really comment on things like that.

I always imagined Sainsbury's to be much more expensive than the others, but I would say recently my shopping there has cost less than Tesco (although Asda still cheapest).

Thanks Xmas Smile. I've done it now - I just couldn't think last night! I was impressed at how many of the basics or standard brand goods were fair trade, so going to give a few of them a go. If dh likes the basics ground coffee it could save us a fortune!

The hour delivery slot is a big plus too, although in the current conditions I'll just be impressed if it gets here at all. It also suggested I put a Christmas Radio Times and some stamps in at last minute which were very good ideas and I did.

Easily pleased, me... Xmas Grin

IMO Sainsburys basic houmous is the nicest houmous you can buy.

I also buy sainsburys squash and other drinks as they dont use aspartane.

Am expecting my 1st Sainsburys delivery just before Xmas (the only place with a slot) so shall be watching this thread with interest!

I like Sainsburys custard (in green box), loo rolls, nappies, their basics tissues are fab for small peoples noses, Blueberry Wheats cereal, crisps, taste the difference plain chocolate, organic mince, Red Label tea is the bees knees, hummous, plain scones from the bakery, creme caramels, the Sainsburys magazine........quite a lot actually!

I like their one hour delivery slots and they've always been on time. I use/go to Asda, Waitrose and Tesco too - they've all got their good points but imo sains/Awaitrose own-brand products are the better quality, on the whole.

Only thing I don't like about Sains is the speed their cashiers lob your shopping through the till! They tend to go much faster than the others and I always end up with a heap of stuff piled up and a bit flustered (me, not the shopping). So i tend to use Sains online more often, and go in person to the others.
