Where can I buy a nice heater/ fake fire for my kitchen?

Hi, I have a lovely country kitchen that is always freezing! The radiator just isn't big enough or dosn't get warm enough for the size of the room. When people come round, they always want to sit in the kitchen so I was thinking of ways we could warm it up while still keeping the country theme.

What do you think about those fake fire's that you plug in? Are they expensive to run/ look naff? Have you seen any nice ones that would fit in?

I also thought about having one of those oil burner things on the table. I don't know if they are designed for indoor use though? I couldn't have it lit with children around either.
If you have any other ideas, please let me know. Thanks. Smile

Hi, those plug in, fake fires are really greedy for electricity. We had a cold kitchen so we replaced the single radiator with a new double one. Same length, just double in thickness, took half hour to fit and the difference is amazing. Cheaper than anything else, and if you can live with rad now, then it won't make any difference aesthetically. .

Electric log burners are nice, im getting an dimplex opti mist when we move house. I'll only use the effect though as to use the heater on them costs a fortune.
If you just want heat though it would be cheaper in the long run to get a larger radiator fitted.

Ive just upgraded my radiator in my cold draughty kitchen to a double-jacket, double-fin one. Try the screwfix website, they were recommended by my plumber, whos also a friend. It didnt cost much but OOHH the difference!!

It is quite sad how many times I have quietly sauntered into the kitchen in the past few days just to feel how warm it is!

Thanks every one. A doulle radiator would probubly be best then. If I had the log effect burner, I'd want it on all the time and it'd work out very expensie.
