Dishwasher leaving scum on glasses?

Why is my dishwasher leaving scum on glasses?

I have refilled both salt and rinseaid and the lights are not on so they should be fine.

I have run one cleaning cycle thing but only on a quickwash (but over 60o as per instructions) but am running another one now on a full length cycle.

Have I missed something...?

I hate when that happens, I normally do as you have, salt, rinseaid and dishwasher clean, have you taken out the filters and cleaned them out also? I find finish the best dishwasher cleaner, what one are you using? I hope that a second wash helps x

The first one was M&S but I have bought to "proper" Finish one now Mummiehunnie by filters do you mean the thing that catches bits of food?

Can't open it now till it's finished but at the bottom there is a round cylinder thing which comes out - is that the filter?

Dread to think how much water I have wasted Blush!!!

yes that is the filter I was referring to, inside them they get all scummpy as well, yuck!

Don't feel bad about the water wasting, apparently it is environmentally more friendly to use the dishwasher than to wash by hand according to reports x

Right it's finished it'd cleaning cycle and I've scrubbed filter so just got to wait for dinner now to try it out... will report back.

No it hasn't worked - glasses still scumier than ever :( Everything else fine though which is odd.

If anyone knows what might be wrong with it let me know!

Have you checked that the spraying holes in the big twirly propellor things are clear? Quick poke with a cocktail stick normally does it

Seona1973 · 20/11/2010 19:43

is it gritty stuff or are they going cloudy? If it is gritty stuff then your rotor arm could be blocked. If it is cloudy then the glasses are getting damaged by the dishwasher

PDR · 20/11/2010 19:50

It's gritty stuff - is the twirly propellor thing the rotor arm? Need to get some cocktail sticks of so....!

Yep rotor arm...twirly propellor thing...same difference Blush

A needle would do the same thing, or anything long, thin and pointy!

I'm not known for my technical mind :)
