How do you clean behind radiators?

TankFlyBossWalk · 15/11/2010 13:32

I use a fluffy, long-handled duster, but when I pull it out plenty of dust, dog and cat hair falls back behind.

Does anyone have some good tricks, please?

Thanks. :)

I don't clean behind radiators. If you can't see it then it's not messy/dirty Grin

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 15/11/2010 13:35

I don't.

Although I did recently stick a feather duster down behind the one in DD1's room to rescue several fluffy socks and dusty pairs of knickers.

TankFlyBossWalk · 15/11/2010 13:35

Ah, I like your thinking. Unfortunately I'm allergic to my dog and cats though, so have to be really thorough about cleaning the fur away. Ugh.

Your dogs get behind radiators? Hmm

TankFlyBossWalk · 15/11/2010 13:42

Their fur does. You clearly don't have animals in the house!

Try Piriton.

JiggeryPoverty · 15/11/2010 13:50

"clean behind radiators"

What does this mean, please?

Confused
DooinMeCleanin · 15/11/2010 13:51

I think it might mean the same as 'ironing' and 'cleaning skirting boards' Jiggery.

meltedmarsbars · 15/11/2010 13:53

TankFly

The only animals in this house are th dc's.

The hens stay FIRMLY outside.

Consequently I have never found a feather behind a radiator. (To be honest, I've never looked)

DooinMeCleanin first of all I have no idea what your name means, and also wtf is 'ironing' and 'cleaning skirting boards'? Is it some bizarre sexual practise?

More to the point, wtf am I doing in this topic?! Not housework, that's for sure.....

CeliaFate · 15/11/2010 14:14

I use a long flat feather duster on a stick, give it a good wiggle about then any dust that falls I hoover when it hits the floor under the radiator. You can get a long, thin flexible hoover attachment too like this

catinthehat2 · 15/11/2010 14:17

I send a small child up behind them.
Illegal but effective.

Bonsoir · 15/11/2010 14:18

If you have a Dyson you can buy a special attachment with a long flexible handle and a brush at the end.

Thanks for the advice.

It seems that I'm abnormal.

I take anti-histamines, but wouldn't give-up re-homing animals for the world. Aaaaachoo!

Bent coat hanger with a sock over it.

Schroeder · 15/11/2010 21:37

Lakeland does a radiator brush, if you hoover it as you pull it out iykwim you should catch most of the hair and fluff.

Bendy ruler and damp cloth might work too.

cleaning behind the radiators?
Another area in my life that I have neglected
