Can't afford a Kitchenaid, please recommend me a food mixer.

Primarily for cake making, I would love a Kitchenaid but my budget just does not stretch that far at all, not even for a second hand one from ebay.
Can anyone recommend a good mixer for under £100?

kitchenaids are lovely! but v.pricey

My friend has a Kitchenaid and never uses it. It does look pretty in the kitchen though.

I bought a cheap Braun food processor, because I wanted to see if I would really use it. It is this one, which is slightly over your budget, but you might get it on eBay cheaper. Mine was cheaper than that when I bought it.

It is really good. I use it for baking cakes and bread, for food prep and cooking.

for cakes you can't beat a wooden spoon and a big bowl. i have a kitchenaid and never use it for cakes

personally i find getting the ka out for a victoria sponge more of a futter than just doing it by hand.

i have the kitchen aid classic which is cheaper

mine stays out all the time. i don't think i'd ever use it if i had to get it out of the cupboard each time

Mine has to live in the cupboard, because it's huge and my kitchen is not but I love it.
It's a 70's Kenwood Chef and one of my most prized possessions.
I use it all the time and would love to have the space for it to be kept out.

There's a Kenwood Prospero on Argos at the moment - it's £109 (has a third off), but currently if you spend over £100 you get a voucher for £10. Haven't got one myself, but seems to have good reviews and lots of attachments. Was quite tempted though.

When I was talking about buying one I was told to only buy it if I have space to leave it out. I don't have much worktop space but sacrificed my microwave (now in a cupboard as it was hardly used) for the food processor.

I use it about 2 - 3 times a week.

i bought a A901 kenwood chef they are the chunky 1970's model mine is orange with a stainless steel bowl-i love it. Cost £15 and is bombproof-use it alot but for ages I used just a very cheap hand stick blender which are quite good for whizzing up cakes and don't take up the space of a kenwood.

I got rid of my microwave and filled up that space with a coffee machine and then squashed in a mini chopper and grinder!
If I got rid if these the Kenwood could live on the bench, but I'm afraid I love my coffee machine too much, and love to be a ponce and slip into conversations that I grind the beans too.

I shop at Asda, I need some poncery in my life

Oh and I make huommous and pesto in the mini chopper-also adds to the poncery.

God I wish DD was young enough to take to toddler groups so I could tell people I make mu own hummous.

When she was young enough to take I was scared to leave the house and ate nothing whilst shovelling her shit from a jar.

If you wait until January you might be lucky and get a Kenwood Chef-style mixer from Aldi for approx £90. I got one last year - great for cakes and meringues.
Having said that I don't think it does anything a cheapo hand mixer can't do - just easier 'cos you can leave it running.
